Mr. Fencl has a broad business background. He manages diverse business and financial functions for smaller and middle-market companies. His experience includes cash flow management, cost containment, managing the financial function, financial reporting, interacting with all levels of stakeholders, litigation support, establishing internal controls, and working with entrepreneurs to increase profitability. He works with both start-up and established organizations. John started his career with Ernst & Young, providing audit and accounting services for nine years to a wide variety of clients. His experience includes serving various financial management roles for middle-market companies including serving as CFO for an 85-person professional services firm. He currently is self-employed working with companies and organizations that need a CFO, but do not have that need on a full-time basis.
He is licensed as a CPA from the State of Indiana. His license is in an active status. He holds both his undergraduate degree in accounting and his MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
John is an elected official, serving his second 4-year term on the MSD Washington Township School Board. He is a graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy Leadership Program, past Treasurer of Big Brothers of Greater Indianapolis and has earned the designation of Distinguished Toastmaster from Toastmasters International. He is a long-time member of East 91st Christian Church. He has been married 20 years to his wife Lyn. His son is a freshman at Indiana University and his daughter is a senior in high school. He enjoys traveling, biking, and spending time with his family.
